Congratulations Deacon Kevin Kahmann
Apr 4th, 2009 by Dan
This morning at the beautiful Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption in Covington, Kentucky, our seminarian brother Kevin Kahmann was ordained to the order of the diaconate.
It was a perfect day, in every sense. Blue skies, bright sun shining through the cathedral’s stunning stained glass windows… and in Covington they make sure that the rays have sufficient smoke from the incense to highlight the effect. I’m a big fan, and it was a joy for many of us seminarians to be present and to support Kevin.
There was a nice write-up on Deacon Kahmann in Covington’s Messenger newspaper and, unknown to me until tonight, also in the Cincinnati Enquirer in the context of a follow-up to John Erardi’s 2007 front-page story on Minor Prophets basketball.
Updates with pictures of the event, as they’re posted by the Diocese of Covington, or if I get them from another source, will be forthcoming.
Also ordained this morning was Deacon Ian McDole, who has been completing his Theology studies at the North American College in Rome. Deacon McDole and I were contemporaries at Notre Dame, though I’m afraid we did not know each other well, as I was running in law school circles and he with his fellow undergrads. I recognized many, many folks at the ordination today who were salt-of-the-earth students at ND. It was nice to visit with at least a couple of them, and our Church is blessed to have these good folks out there doing good things.
So, again, congratulations to Rev. Mr. Kevin Kahmann. The deacon ordinations at the cathedral in Cincinnati are in three weeks. Keep these men, as well as the deacons approaching their presbyterate ordinations, in your prayers.
